ST MAARTEN

This post was deleted by some unknown internet glitch just before we left St Maarten and we had no internet connection after we left our mooring there. This was so frustrating!!  It had taken me 2 days to write and there was no time to re-write it, so I have posted a few photographs of our time there.

We have good memories of of St Maarten, we worked so hard as a family to get Katz ready for the big blue yonder. We met some lovely people, a whole lot of South Africans have ended up working and living there after leaving SA to sail away. They all have their story to tell.

It is a strange island,  the one side of the island being Dutch and the other side being French. There is a distinct difference between the 2 sides. The French side has a European feel, French currency and shops, and the roads are in a better condition. The restaurants have a lovely French vibe.....with prices to match! The Dutch side is more relaxed with a buzing superyacht harbour and a more island feel.

It wasn't all easy, but worth every moment of hard grind when we put up our sails and left the safety of this familiar little island......
