FULL MOON
Main Str, Cane Garden |
Cane Garden Beach |
So it's not ALL fun! |
Do you think these hairpieces will cover my bald patch? |
Some full moon craziness happened around our yacht.........a bait fish ball had gathered underneath the hulls and this attracted loads of birds and other fish. We had a whole ecosystem happening around our boat! The pelicans were dive bombing into the water, there were large fish hunting the smaller ones and the fish were even jumping on to our sugar scoop. We dived into the middle of all this activity. It was so amazing to be surrounded by all these fish, so many that they caused a huge shadow on the ocean floor. Of course Tayne couldn't let up the opportunity and caught a nice Bonnie!
We sailed along a beautiful rugged coastline from Cane Garden to Trellis Bay on a perfectly flat sea.....heading for the Full Moon Party. Trellis Bay is on Beef Island has an rustic feel with art studio's and restaurants and is the windsurfing spot in the BVI.
Forever chasing wifi |
Luckily we arrived the day before the party and got a great mooring close to shore. The next day throngs of yachts arrived and there was absolutely no place in the bay, but there was a great vibe with overloaded dinghies coming to shore.
The Full Moon Party was amazing with fire dancers, "Burning Man" structures, stilt walkers, live bands and LOTS of rum!!! We had such a good time, but a very quiet boat the whole of the next day.

BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS
British Virgin Islands Immigration |
We sailed towards Cane Garden and passed Sebastians on the Bay, where we stayed in February. I
remember sitting on the patio at the time, dreaming of when we would be sailing past.....and here we were!! This is a surfing spot and there were a few surfers out, so the kids are keen to get back there.

Beach Bars in Cane Garden |
We went fishing and Stephen caught a good sized Spanish mackerel. Tayne caught a big Baracuda but threw it back because they apparently carry some illness from eating tropical fish, you can die from it.....so no Baracuda for us!!

Just across the bay is Sandy Cay, an absolutely beautiful beach off the island of Jost van Dyke. This is the prettiest beach I have ever seen with palm trees, turquoise clear water, and a long white beach. This is the beach that comes to mind when you think of the Caribbean. Stephen and I had a few beers on beach and the kids dived and wake boarded. We had the most amazing day, finishing off with a fish braai at last!
