BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS

To visit the BVI you have to clear immigration. We cleared at West End with mounds of paperwork for 6 people!

We sailed towards Cane Garden and passed Sebastians on the Bay, where we stayed in February. I
remember sitting on the patio at the time, dreaming of when we would be sailing past.....and here we were!! This is a surfing spot and there were a few surfers out, so the kids are keen to get back there.

Beach Bars in Cane Garden
Cane Garden reminds us of Thailand with beach bars along the length of the beach and small shops along the street behind. There are a lot of yachts anchored in the sheltered bay. We fall asleep at night with the sounds of reggae music from the bars and the the waves breaking on the beach. We love it here and have drinks and listen to live music at happy hour from 5pm to 7pm and watch the sunset.
We went fishing and Stephen caught a good sized Spanish mackerel. Tayne caught a big Baracuda but threw it back because they apparently carry some illness from eating tropical fish, you can die from it.....so no Baracuda for us!!

Just across the bay is Sandy Cay, an absolutely beautiful beach off the island of Jost van Dyke. This is the prettiest beach I have ever seen with palm trees, turquoise clear water, and a long white beach. This is the beach that comes to mind when you think of the Caribbean. Stephen and I had a few beers on beach and the kids dived and wake boarded. We had the most amazing day, finishing off with a fish braai at last!
